Classes, Clubs and Coaching
for Skills, Wellbeing & Personal Growth
"In all Rachel's classes you are given inspiration and ideas plus the tools and materials and allowed to explore your own creativity at your own pace, with as much help as you need and lots of supporting encouragement"
- Penny, Art Club member
Whatever your reasons for joining me, you'll
build confidence, banish doubt and transform
into the artist you know you can be
with my range of face-to-face classes,
clubs and coaching for every ability level.

All over East Anglia I'm inspiring artists like you
to explore your talents, challenge yourself and grow to find
what makes you tick as an artist. Here are 3 reasons you might
want to join one of my classes or clubs or get some coaching:

Reason 1- Skill Building

You might be here because you want to learn or improve on an art skill, and you might have chosen to investigate my classes because you like the idea of the warmth and interaction of in-person teaching rather than wrangling with temperamental tech and slow wifi for an online course.
As my student, I'll guide you through a range of practice activities appropriate to your needs and preferences. Whatever your age or ability, I'll encourage you to work at your own pace to experiment and explore, reflect on your work, and find your own direction.
My welcoming, nurturing teaching style will support you whether you're a beginner or a more experienced artist. Here's the sort of thing we'll cover together...

Reason 2 - Wellbeing

If you're here to find ways to make art in the company of people like you, my Community Art Clubs, where the community is as important as the art, run at various locations around East Anglia. As well as providing affordable, regular, high quality art tuition in rural areas, the clubs increase wellbeing and social cohesion - so they're good value for everyone. They're so great they've got their own page on this website!

You might also like to try one of my 'just for fun' classes like the monthly 'CopyCats' art sessions I run at the gorgeous Cat House in Norwich. Feline-themed paintings inspired by famous artists, a room full of cats and cat lovers, and the first drink is free! Details and a link to those are on my Make a Booking web page.

You could also join me for my collaborations with other organisations like Norwich castle Art Gallery, Norwich Assembly House and many others. I provide bespoke, wellbeing-focused art workshops in all those lovely venues. Check out my socials (Instagram & Facebook Rachel Duffield Art) or subscribe to my newsletter for the latest details on those.

Reason 3 - Personal Growth

It's something I'm really proud of, and if you're looking to reignite your artistic spark I think you've come to the right place. You'll be introduced to my unique Art Life Journallers' Prompt Deck, the Art Life Journalling Course and then the bonus- lifelong membership of my Art Life Journal Club. If you're just starting out, I'll be beside you to help with those all-important foundational skills in drawing and painting - skills like observation, composition, perspective, colour theory and an understanding of light and shade. Having a decent grasp of these traditional skills means you'll soon avoid the frustration of creating work you feel is poorly executed, and you'll find you're able to create more satisfying and meaningful work. You'll stop saying 'it looks like a 5 year old painted it' and begin to have pride in your progress, creating wall-worthy artworks again and again. I offer beginners courses in drawing, watercolours and oils. The skills you'll learn will easily transfer over to other painting and drawing media, so you'll be set for life. All my courses include all materials you'll need for the class, but If you want to start getting your own kit, you can download my helpful shopping list.
If your skills are already established, but like me and every other artist in the world you sometimes feel like you've lost direction, together we'll find the perfect route map for you with a method I profoundly believe in: the magic of sketchbooking and journalling. I use this technique as a core learning tool for discovery and reflection. Sketchbooks and journals made with me are not necessarily pretty like the ones you might have seen on Instagram. Instead, they are used help you think deeper and more broadly about your artistic practice, to collect inspiration and to test new things without fear of failure. I've developed a range of courses around journalling and sketchbooking, coaching artists like you to reignite your spark and find your path.
You can be the first to know about new clubs, courses and workshops if you subscribe to my newsletter or follow me on social media (IG @rachelduffieldart, FB Rachel Duffield Art).
