6 weeks of gentle art and conversation in a uniquely intimate, respectful & transformative community.

Each cohort is strictly capped at just six participants to maintain a safe, close-knit environment.

Feeling cautious? Then come along to our icebreaker event on 4th September to help you decide! You can meet me and the other participants before you book for the main course, just pick the right option for you when you book:

Two women make journals from repurposed materials at a craft table in a wood-paneled room; sign reads Journal Making Social 4th Sept £35

By the way- Payment options are available for the 6 week course. If you would prefer to make two payments of £60 (one on booking, and one at Session 4), please select the right option for you when you book.

And now, here's why I offer the 'icebreaker' journal-making session:

I DON'T KNOW WHERE THE TOILETS ARE!" I wept, the night before I started middle school*. Looking back, it was the only way I could articulate, as a seven year old, what I was feeling: SOCIAL ANXIETY. And it still plagues me to this day- for years I hid it behind costumes and performances - but I read somewhere that if you have a role or task to do at a social thing you won't feel so bad. Enter this: The Journal-Making Social. A week before my next Art Life Journalling six weeker begins, I've teamed up with Christina, of Brailsford Learning to offer a fabulous icebreaker session to meet others from the course and MAKE YOUR OWN JOURNAL to use on the course. So if you're feeling shy you can bury yourself in crafting with repurposed materials while you suss out the vibes and gain confidence (see, I really HAVE been there; I see you in the corner taking it all in with your hyper-alert senses). Or, if you're a little more confident (or good at bluffing; I see you too) it's a lovely opportunity to mingle and make before the main course begins. You can book for this optional social event when main booking opens on August 5th. I hope you do! Rach x *in case you're wondering, the toilets were between the climbing frame and the third years' classroom. My kindly older brother drew me a map.

Click on the gold button below to choose your preferred booking option and claim one of the six places for September (the link is now working correctly...oops)

Because I work as a social enterprise, profits from this course are fed straight back into my community impact company, Community Art Clubs CIC, funding support for people in rural areas to make and experience art. The CIC runs art clubs and classes, organises art trips and helps people get involved in their local communities. All the evidence shows that this doesn't just help the artmakers, it helps build stronger and healthier communities, so it's great value for everyone.
